At UConn Health, this class is accountable for coordination of training and teaching activities, the supervision of the non-dispensing aspects of the Pharmacy Service, as well as providing pharmacy services to patients. This pharmacist will support 340B pharmacy services.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the limited supervision of an employee of higher grade.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May lead/supervise lower-level employees, students and others as assigned.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Serves as program coordinator and liaison for 340B Program related matters

Performs and serves as a resource for UConn Health's 340B Program

Prepares and assists in the monitoring and various tracking and reporting measurements to ensure compliance with the 340B Program and federal regulations

Assists in developing and implementing Policies and Procedures, guidelines, and protocols

Prepares and assists in monitoring and reporting measurements to ensure satisfaction with the 340B program

Works directly with the manufacturers as well as the wholesalers to develop strategies for appropriate use of the program

Participates in projects, councils, and special initiatives related to 340B, compliance, auditing functions, vendor selection, and medication management

Serves as a point person and coordinator for audits, coordinates all requests and responses.

Monitors industry publications and websites with respect 340B Program regulations

Provides ongoing training, education, and communication to staff

Coordinates pharmacy department seminars/continuing education courses

Assesses opportunities for cost savings and business improvements in 340B Program contract pharmacy utilization for program enhancement and optimization

Performs medication use evaluations as related to 340B program

Acts as preceptor for hospital pharmacy residents and students

Represents the department on applicable committees and teams relative to their specialty

Performs related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of specialty pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, pathophysiology and medical diagnosis
Considerable knowledge of the operation of a hospital pharmacy or outpatient ambulatory practice clinic
Considerable knowledge of relevant Federal and State Laws
Considerable interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Teaching and preceptor ability
Ability to proficiently utilize technical automated equipment and information systems to collect, maintain and analyze data

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
General Experience:
Pharm D, master's or bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited Pharmacy program
Five (5) years pharmacy experience
One (1) year American Society of Health-systems Pharmacists [ASHP] accredited ambulatory resident program may substitute for two [2] years of the required pharmacy experience; additional PGY residency experience will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain a license as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Connecticut

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with pharmacy informatics and data analysis

Experience with 340B split billing software systems (i.e., Wellpartner, Macro Helix, Verity)

Experience with medical records and purchasing software systems (i.e., EPIC, HuskyBuy)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious/communicable diseases and some disagreeable conditions.


SCHEDULE: Full time, 80 hours every two weeks, primarily Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, other shifts, weekends, holidays and on-call as assigned, 30 minute unpaid meal break.
