Job Description :
This position is for a board-certified clinical neurologist with subspecialty training and board certification in Neurology and Epilepsy (or Clinical Neurophysiology) focused on the management of medically refractory epilepsy using modern medical and surgical approaches, as well as experience and interest in managing inpatient neurological consultations. The successful candidate will work with our current epileptologists, neuropsychologists, social workers and functional neurosurgeon as an active member of the epilepsy team with particular focus on inpatient and outpatient EEG studies and evaluation of patients in the epilepsy monitoring unit. Experience in intracranial EEG studies and neuromodulation is also highly desirable. The candidate will take a lead role in the organization of our hospital consult service including development of protocols for communication and rounding with referring hospitalists to optimize the efficiency of neurological care while reducing length of stay. The candidate will also be involved in teaching epilepsy and EEG interpretation to neurology residents and epilepsy fellows and will serve on the hospital consult services in rotation with other faculty. For candidates with prior experience in directing a neurology residency program, a major role as associate program director for our neurology residency focused on resident recruitment is possible. Development of a clinical or translational research program is strongly encouraged.
The faculty member in this position will be responsible for clinical service, teaching, and clinical investigation, including the following:
Serve on the inpatient consult service in rotation with other clinical faculty.
Interpret inpatient and outpatient EEG studies and manage patients admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
Teach medical students, neurology residents, fellows and other trainees during their rotations in John Dempsey Hospital and in other settings when needed.
Participate actively in the management of the neurology residency program.
Minimum Qualifications : US Neurology Residency; Board certified/eligible in Neurology
Special and Preferred Qualifications : 1 or more years of fellowship training in Epilepsy and/or clinical
neurophysiology at a program with emphasis on surgical treatment of epilepsy
Board certified/eligible in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology.
