Summary

Job Summary

The licensing manager is responsible for the commercialization of research innovations. This includes the management and administration of a portfolio of intellectual property, which involves identifying, soliciting, and evaluating invention disclosures and copyrighted material submissions for patent and market potential, prioritizing investment in the portfolio, and negotiating and administering option and license agreements.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Responsibility for the management and administration of a portfolio of intellectual property, which involves identifying, soliciting and evaluating invention disclosures and copyrighted material submissions for patent and market potential, prioritizing investments in the portfolio, and negotiation and administering option and license agreements.
  • Drive participation in educational programs for faculty, inventors, and entrepreneurs, including I-Corps, Ascent and Destination Startup.
  • Evaluate University inventions including assessing technical merit, patentability, copyright ownership and management, commercial feasibility and overall management of campus inventions.

This is a part-time, temporary role.

$200/hr.

What We Require

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in chemistry
  • Two or more years of experience in business development, startups, finance, licensing or tech transfer

What You Will Need

  • Track record for seeking out new revenue opportunities and pursuing them to fruition
  • Ability to analyze complex agreements
  • Affinity for data, metrics, and driving key performance indicators

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Advanced degree in chemistry or chemical engineering
  • 5 years of license negotiation and management in a university setting
