Job Summary

The Implementation Coordinator serves as a partner with schools to support teachers’ implementation of a middle school and high school prevention program (Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST)). LST teaches personal self-management skills, social skills, and general refusal skills to equip adolescents with the knowledge and skills to develop healthy attitudes and behaviors. Working with a set of school districts across the U.S., the Implementation Coordinator promotes successful delivery of LST by scheduling and attending workshops and in-person meetings, organizing implementation plans, monitoring adherence to program guidelines, collecting feedback, and providing resources.

Who We Are

IBS is a research institute that provides a setting for interdisciplinary collaborative research on problems of societal concern. We have approximately 200 Institute members (approximately 70 Fellows, 60 research and administrative staff, 6 post-doctoral researchers, 55 graduate student researchers, and 12 undergraduate student researchers) with a typical annual grant portfolio of $40 million and an annual expenditure of approximately $15 million. By engaging faculty from the social and behavioral sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, IBS encourages work that goes beyond disciplinary boundaries, illuminates the complexity of social behavior and social life, and that has important implications for social policy. IBS is connected to a wide variety of academic departments from Anthropology, History, Economics, Environmental Studies, Geography, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies, and more. IBS is home to 12 programs and centers including the Prevention Science Program, Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, Natural Hazards Center, and the Rocky Mountain Research Data Center. While IBS has historical strengths in research related to population, the environment, violence prevention, health, and international issues, it also embraces scholarship on well-being and resilience, archaeology, and behavioral genetics, among myriad other topics.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment by demonstrating compassion and curiosity, learning from others, and participating in diversity, equity, and inclusion activities.
• Create and maintain a supportive relationship with assigned school districts, including assisting with challenges and helping facilitate quality implementation.
• Present information about the LST program and CU Boulder grant to site personnel during orientation meetings, trainings, and annual school visits,
• Determine initial and ongoing training needs for assigned school districts; schedule, coordinate, and attend teacher training workshops each year.
• Conduct annual visits to assigned school districts to understand schools’ experience with LST implementation and the degree schools are adhering to program guidelines. Visits include observing lessons and interviewing key personnel, such as principals and teachers.
• Hire and train independent contractors to serve as classroom observers for assigned school districts and maintain a close liaison with classroom observers.
• Maintain documentation, spreadsheets, and databases with progress (e.g., school personnel contact information, status of schools and teachers, communication logs, teaching schedules).
• Submit thorough paperwork for timely processing (e.g., orders for materials, payment forms for non-employees, and travel reimbursement forms)
• Manage data, including collecting evaluation forms, surveys, and checklists, correcting missing or incorrect data, and coding and entering data into statistical software.
• Write an annual report for each school district detailing their experience with implementation, analyzing results from data, and providing strengths and recommendations.
• Perform all other duties as requested by senior personnel.
  
  

What You Should Know

• Hybrid work schedule (work on-site at the Institute of Behavioral Science office at least 3 days per week for the first 3 months of employment, then at least 2 days on-site per week thereafter).
• Approximately 25% out-of-state travel (primarily East Coast) to meet with school district personnel.

What We Require

• A Bachelors degree.
• Experience with statistical software and an understanding of basic statistics.
• Experience presenting information to professional audiences.
• Knowledgeable about implementing programs, particularly school-based programs.
• Understanding of risk and protective factors and the importance of experimentally-proven programs.
