Job Summary

The Off-Campus Life department at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Coordinator of Off-Campus Housing & Commuter Student Programs!

This position is responsible for providing assistance, services to, and advocacy for, students who reside off-campus. This includes coordinating services that facilitate students locating off-campus housing in surrounding communities, as well as: management of an off-campus housing database, development and coordination of programs and services designed to meet the specific needs of off-campus students and serving as an expert in off-campus student and commuter student needs. Additionally, this position supervises the first year off-campus and commuter student program, including the supervision of 5-8 undergraduate peer mentors, and the department’s 6-8 Front Desk Assistants, as well as all aspects of the Commuter Student Lounge. This role is also responsible for coordinating with Student Affairs Communications to sustain OCHNR’s OCL’s website and social media presence, and cultivation of working relationships with community partners, including off-campus apartment managers/owners.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Supervising First Year Off-Campus & Commuter Student Initiatives

  • Take ownership of all first year off-campus & commuter student related programs including structure, implementation, assisting with orientation, and all other first year off-campus and commuter student related needs.
  • Manage the Commuter Student Lounge, including supervising operations, staffing, procedures, events, marketing, etc.
  • Lead the planning of the first year off-campus and commuter student program, distributing students into cohorts and creating the structure of peer mentors supervising first year off-campus and commuter students.
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for first year off-campus and commuter students and mentors, facilitating connections between the program and CU departments and resources.
  • Take charge of growing the first-year off-campus and commuter peer mentor program, find opportunities within the program to enhance support for first year off-campus and commuter students and reach/sustain the maximum number of students within the program.

Unit Programs

  • Facilitate administrative aspects of unit programs, including information sharing, purchasing, billing, scheduling, and tracking attendance.
  • Evaluate current programs and formulate action plans to address campus, community and student needs and issues.
  • Solicit vendors, manage reservations and budget, and organize three annual housing fairs.
  • Identify standard processes and provides recommendations for emerging platforms and technology that can further enhance the objectives of the office and accessibility for key partners including students, faculty, staff, landlords, and community members.

Supervision

  • Provide supervision, regular mentorship, and performance feedback to the Off-Campus Life Graduate Assistant who is responsible for the Beyond Campus Buffs program and student staff initiatives, and delegates operational and administrative responsibilities related to the Commuter Lounge and departmental programs.
  • Supervise, train, and manage student staff functioning in front desk receptionist positions (6-8 total) and commuter peer mentor positions (5-8 total).
  • Management responsibilities include posting, hiring, training, coaching and evaluating student employees in their front desk support roles and for the first year off-campus and commuter student programs – including team meetings and 1:1 check-ins.
  • Work with the payroll liaison and IT for payroll and other onboarding positions.
  • Support the outreach efforts to off campus students conducted by student staff, including participation in tabling and peer presentations on office services.

Campus Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Continually collaborate with Student Affairs Communication to develop and maintain all communication efforts. This includes developing timely and relevant content that meets off-campus students’ needs in alignment with OCHNR’s programs, goals, and priorities and overall campus/Student Affairs communication strategies.
  • Provide support to Student Affairs Communication to keep the OCHNR website updated, serves as a liaison for the Ralphie’s List rental database, and helps in response to social media inquiries.
  • Assist with existing programs and services such as New Student Welcome, student recruitment or information sharing activities, Family Weekend, and other associated activities.
  • Support the overall operation and Director of Off-Campus Housing & Neighborhood Relations and contribute to the department's success by performing other duties as assigned.

What You Should Know

This position has the ability to work in a hybrid work modality with at least 4 days in office during the academic year, at least 3 days in the office during the summer, and has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday during regular business hours, with occasional nights and weekend hours.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • 1 year of experience in housing, community outreach activities, or in a related field.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master's degree in student development, counseling, higher education administration, public policy or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience supervising student staff.
  • 1 year of experience in an off-campus/commuter student environment.
  • Knowledge of landlord/tenant laws.
  • Mediation experience.
