Job DescriptionSchedule: 3:00 PM â 11:30 PM. This position requires working every other weekend (alternating weekends).
Employment Duration: 3 months (w/ potential for extension)
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides skilled, technical nursing care to patients according to a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse (RN).

- Implement the plan of care developed by the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Assist the RN in evaluating the effectiveness of care using established standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Participate in patient and family teaching as directed by the RN.
- Demonstrate understanding of emergency response procedures and intervene appropriately.
- Communicate pertinent patient information, findings, problems, concerns, and ideas to the assigned RN using appropriate lines of authority.
- Promote a constructive and positive work environment through collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving and collaborate with the RN to implement strategies for resolution.
- Remain flexible in staffing assignments and participate in temporary assignments as needed.
- Set priorities for patient care and unit activities using appropriate organizational skills.
- Demonstrate appropriate delegation of tasks and duties to healthcare team members.
- Assume responsibility for nursing practice within the prescribed scope of practice for LVNs and participate in peer review.
- Participate in professional growth through team rounds, conferences, in-service programs, competency activities, and continuing education.
- Seek guidance and validation of knowledge, skills, and decision-making from the assigned RN, especially in areas of uncertainty.
- Apply safety practices in accordance with hospital standards.
- Participate in development and attainment of unit and nursing department goals and objectives.
- Participate in nursing department standards development and process improvement activities.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues related to patient care and support risk management activities.
- Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to patient and family rights.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
