Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health, the Associate Director of Behavioral Health Operations, provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for the EMBRACE Perinatal Integrated Care Program at UCSF, advancing equity-centered, culturally responsive perinatal behavioral health services for pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families. This position carries a clinical caseload and provides direct mental health services while overseeing day-to-day behavioral health program operations, supervising behavioral health and patient navigation staff, and serving as a primary clinical liaison across UCSF interdisciplinary teams and community partners.

The EMBRACE Perinatal Integrated Care Program at UCSF delivers equity-centered, culturally responsive perinatal care to pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families. Operating within an Integrated/Collaborative Care Model and grounded in the Sankofa framework, EMBRACE integrates clinical perinatal services (including individual and group prenatal care, perinatal mental health, lactation support, BMMU, Rest & Recovery services, HEAL Villages, and women's primary health care) with community-based navigation, birth worker partnerships, and traditional birthing practices that affirm Black birthing families. The program operates across three UCSF sites with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, navigators, and community partners.

Department Summary:

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (OBGYN & RS) is a major academic Department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research and training activities at Parnassus, Mt. Zion, and the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital campuses; the Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital at Mission Bay; as well as satellite locations throughout the Bay Area; with an annual operating budget of approximately $150 million. The Department has 111 full-time faculty, 117 other academic appointees, 13 post-doctoral fellows, 20 clinical fellows, 32 residents, 138 voluntary clinical faculty, and 270 staff. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - 5 years of post-master's clinical experience, including at least three years providing therapy or mental health services. - Minimum two years of post-licensure experience. - 5 years of experience working with individuals during the perinatal phase (pregnancy and postpartum), with strong knowledge of maternal and infant health and well-being. - 3 years of lead, supervisory, or managerial experience - Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and administrative supervision to behavioral health and patient navigation staff, including unlicensed personnel. - Strong clinical knowledge of perinatal mental health, including evidence-based individual and family psychotherapy, standardized screening tools, DSM-5 diagnoses, and perinatal group facilitation. - Knowledge of the mental health, social, and cultural intervention needs of Black and African American communities. - Demonstrated experience providing training and/or developing educational materials on perinatal-specific topics. - Demonstrated ability to design, monitor, and improve operational workflows that enhance efficiency, access, and program impact across clinical and community settings. - Strong communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across clinical, administrative, faculty, and community partner settings. - Knowledge of human resources management policies, including performance appraisal, staff development, and reflective supervision practices. - Proficiency with APeX (UCSF EMR), REDCap, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with integrated/collaborative care models, the Sankofa framework, and trauma-informed perinatal practice. - Lived experience and/or deep community connection to the populations EMBRACE serves. Licenses: Active, unrestricted California licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
