Job DescriptionSupervises staff involved in the delivery of clinical patient care and supports the overall quality of patient care within a designated patient care area. Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice and assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for unit operations in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.

Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelorâs degree in Nursing - Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise clinicians and manage complex workflows and multiple priorities within a patient care unit - Minimum of two (2) years of management or charge nurse experience in a hospital setting - In-depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, care delivery systems, external regulations, and internal policies - Recent experience recovering patients following Cardiac Catheterization and/or Electrophysiology (EP) procedures - Knowledge of pediatric congenital heart disease - Knowledge of adult congenital heart disease - Strong knowledge of human resources management practices, including training, monitoring, evaluation, and documentation of employee performance, and providing input on HR-related decisions - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess problems, determine appropriate interventions, and implement effective solutions - Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of staff, management, consultants, and external agencies - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to mentor staff and clearly present complex clinical and technical information; ability to prepare reports, analyses, and project proposals - Knowledge of business software, specialized applications, and data management systems used in nursing units or departments - Extensive experience with Point of Care Testing (POCT) Licensure and Certifications - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California - American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification for healthcare providers - American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience in a pediatric cardiac critical care setting within an academic medical center - Recent charge nurse experience - Knowledge of radiation safety (RHB) and experience working with fluoroscopy About UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
