Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $97,200 - $113,400/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $97,200 - $182,000/year.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Manager is a senior marketing professional responsible for the coordination, implementation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for UCSB Arts & Lectures.

Applies advanced marketing concepts and industry practices to implement campaign strategies, messaging, and audience segmentation frameworks and to support the execution of multi-channel initiatives across performances, lectures, films, and special events. Exercises judgment within established guidelines to adapt tactics, optimize performance, and ensure alignment with organizational goals, brand standards, and revenue objectives.

This position plays a central role in managing day-to-day campaign execution across multiple concurrent projects, developing campaign plans and production timelines, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of marketing materials. Works closely with Programming, Development, Ticketing, and external partners to support cohesive and effective campaign delivery.

Provides supervision and work direction to a Marketing Specialist, including assigning work, reviewing output, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting staff development. Coordinates the work of cross-functional contributors, including design and publicity, to ensure alignment with campaign goals, timelines, and deliverables, operating within strategic direction established by the Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 7-9 years advanced experience in marketing, including campaign planning and multi-channel execution
  • 4-6 years experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
  • 4-6 years experience providing supervision or direction in a team environment
  • 1-3 years experience with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and digital marketing tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience with graphic design or visual asset development, including familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.
  • 1-3 years experience in arts, higher education, or nonprofit marketing.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

35% - Campaign Planning, Development and Execution:

Manages and coordinates the implementation and day-to-day execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital and print platforms in support of Arts & Lectures programming. Translates strategic direction into campaign plans, messaging frameworks, segmentation approaches, and channel execution.

Develops campaign briefs, timelines, and production schedules for assigned events and initiatives. Applies judgment in adapting campaign tactics to meet audience engagement and revenue goals, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and brand standards.

Implements campaigns across email, web, social media, print, and third-party platforms. Monitors campaign performance and adjusts tactics as needed to improve effectiveness.

Reviews marketing materials for accuracy, clarity, and consistency, ensuring adherence to established standards and requirements. Collaborates with Programming, Development, and external partners to ensure accurate event representation, timely approvals, and alignment of messaging and campaign execution.

25% - Project Management and Workflow Coordination:

Coordinates and manages marketing workflows, timelines, and production schedules across multiple concurrent campaigns. Develops and maintains project plans and ensures alignment of deliverables across marketing functions.

Coordinates deliverables with design, publicity, and other contributors to support timely and accurate campaign execution. Tracks progress of marketing initiatives, ensuring adherence to deadlines and organizational priorities.

Identifies workflow challenges and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency, communication, and coordination across the team. Supports implementation of season timelines and campaign rollouts in collaboration with the Director and cross-functional partners.

15% - Content Development and Brand Stewardship:

Writes, edits, and refines marketing content across platforms, including email communications, web content, social media, advertising, and print collateral.

Applies brand standards and messaging frameworks to ensure consistency of voice, tone, and visual identity across all marketing materials. Coordinates development of program book content and related materials, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual requirements. Collaborates with designers and content contributors to produce cohesive, high-quality marketing materials; may adapt or format visual assets for marketing use as needed.

10% - Data Analysis and Audience Strategy:

Analyzes marketing data, audience behavior, and campaign performance to evaluate effectiveness and support decision-making. Interprets results and provides recommendations to improve campaign performance and audience engagement.

Implements audience segmentation and targeting approaches established in collaboration with the Director to support campaign goals. Applies data insights to adjust messaging, channel strategy, and timing.

Interfaces with ticketing and business systems staff to align marketing efforts with sales performance, audience trends, and reporting.

10% - Staff Supervision and Work Direction:

Provides supervision and work direction to the Marketing Specialist. Assigns and prioritizes work, reviews completed assignments, and ensures accuracy, quality, and alignment with campaign objectives. Other Duties as assigned.
