Clinical Nurse Radiation Oncology

Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse (AN) or Charge Nurse, the Clinical Nurse II (CNII) is responsible for providing skilled and comprehensive nursing care to Radiation Oncology patients with a wide variety of oncological and/or disease related problems seen for consultation, treatment, and follow-up. Through application of the nursing process, the CNII provides direct care and implements plans for continuity and coordination of patient care with other members of the patient's health care team. In collaboration with the AN, the CNII provides appropriate guidance and supervision for ancillary nursing personnel and participates in orientation of new medical and/or technical personnel.


Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) employed in acute care setting within the last 3-5 years.
  • PACU or OR Circulator/ Scrub experience
  • 1 year of Oncology experience in the last 3-5 years
  • Nursing experience in ICU, OR or other similar procedural area experience or background
  • Pediatric recovery experience within the last year
  • Excellent proficiency with starting IVs
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interact on an interpersonal level with patients and staff.
  • Ability to deal with issues related to death and dying.
  • Basic computer skills including, use of email, internet, navigating windows, and ability to learn various computer systems such as EPIC, Aria and other clinical tools.
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Radiation Oncology experience
  • BSN
  • Care Coordination experience

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • American Heart Association ACLS Certification
  • American Heart Association PALS Certification within 3 months

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
