Applicants must have a PhD, MD, and/or an equivalent degree. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a productive research background, providing evidence of an unusual degree of creativity.

This faculty position has been created to accelerate the clinical implementation of genome editing strategies, in conjunction with the development of an integrated Center for Genome Surgery at UCSF. The selected candidate will develop and maintain a thriving independent research program and collaborate with other members of the stem cell and gene therapy communities at UCSF.

Applicants must show evidence of research excellence in their field, be a strong communicator, and exhibit strength in teaching and in mentoring. The successful candidate will become a member of one or more UCSF graduate programs, such as Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and Developmental and Stem Cell Biology (DSCB), and contribute to teaching, mentoring, and training.

The faculty appointment will be in the School of Medicine, with a primary appointment in the Department of Surgery and secondary appointment in the Broad Center, with laboratory space in the Regeneration Medicine Building on the Parnassus Campus; affiliations with other UCSF Centers such as the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and the Health Innovations Via Engineering (HIVE) Center will be considered, depending on the background and research aims of the candidate.

Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs.
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900 - $319,800.
