Job Summary

The Academic Personnel Analyst 2 applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.

Academic Personnel Analyst 2 will work with client departments to facilitate their Academic Personnel business needs, be responsive, identify problems, assist with resolution of routine issues, and analyzes moderately complex issues to recommend solutions. The individual will also coordinate with schools, business units, and specialty centers to deliver efficient and effective personnel services, while ensuring compliance with UCSF policy and procedures. The position will support the onboarding of over 600 Residents and Clinical Fellows and 400 Graduate Student Researchers. Reviewing various HR requests, analyzing and processing as appropriate. Visa/immigration coordination with UC International Scholars Office and candidate. Assisting Academic Personnel Analysts with needed HR tasks and in other related duties as assigned. The APA 2 will be held accountable to high customer service standards, service level agreements and related metrics. The APA 2 will perform all duties with tact, discretion and according to confidentiality requirements.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $136,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Office of the Vice Provost-Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Faculty Development and Advancement facilitates the recruitment, development, mentoring, and retention of the highest-caliber diverse faculty. The Office provides leadership, training, and guidance in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to academic personnel. The Office is committed to improving the work life and academic environment for faculty to support innovative and collaborative approaches for education, research and health care at UCSF. As of October 2018, there were approximately 3400 faculty, 900 non-faculty academics, and 3000 volunteer clinical professors appointed at UCSF.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• One (1) or more year(s) of related experience
• Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR
• Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems
• Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management
• Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills
• Knowledge of employment eligibility verification requirements (federal I-9 regulations). Understanding of legal and compliance implications of personnel decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies
• Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served
