Department Summary
The LADCFS UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence (AWE) is an ongoing contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Families (DCFS), whereby universities in Los Angeles County with master's degree programs in social work provide training to DCFS Employees. The contract also provides curriculum design and development as well as professional development to DCFS staff at various levels on different child welfare topics, including but not limited to State Wide Standardized content for New Social Workers.
Position Summary
The Trainer/Consultant for UCLA is part the LADCFS UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence (AWE) which is an ongoing contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Families (DCFS), whereby universities in Los Angeles County with master's degree programs in social work provide training to new and current employees at DCFS, particularly new hire Children's Social Workers (CSWs), current CSWs, and Supervising Social Workers (SCSWs), as well as public health nurses (PHNs), managers and administrators, case aides, and other stakeholders. Master's degree in social work or closely related field, expertise in child welfare and training (live and virtual) experience as well as strong project management skills, interpersonal, presentation, collaboration, and facilitation skills are required. The trainer/consultant also develops curriculum on a variety of child welfare topics present to DCFS employees at various levels within the organization as well as assist in delivering Seminars to DCFS Interns. This position reports to the Center Director but is expected to perform at a high degree of professionalism and autonomy.
