Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Quantum Technologies

University of Bristol - School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience
Bristol, CT Full Time
POSTED ON 3/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/22/2026
The role

As part of the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, we are excited to offer an opportunity for an academic conducting cutting-edge research in Quantum Technologies to join our dynamic team. Their research will contribute to advancing this transformative field, and their teaching will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of engineers through core subjects in electronics and communications. This synergy not only enriches the student learning experience with insights from pioneering research but also fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging the gap between emerging quantum technologies and foundational engineering principles.

The successful candidate will join the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QET Labs) research group, known for its industry-focused research addressing real-world challenges in quantum information science and technologies. The School is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration and is committed to research excellence and global impact.

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will also be encouraged to develop a research programme, carrying out impactful research in the field of quantum technologies as part of the wider QET Labs team. You will be expected to lead and participate in a range of research programmes, secure external research funding and collaborate with industry partners.

In addition to research, you will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. This will include supervising student projects, supporting innovation in teaching methods, and engaging in cross-Faculty research initiatives. There will also be opportunities for leadership roles that will shape the strategic direction of the School’s academic and research activities.

You should apply if

You have a strong research background in quantum technology development. Candidates should have a clear and innovative vision for future research that complements and enhances the existing activities of the solid mechanics group. A commitment to high-quality teaching and the ability to develop and deliver engaging education in materials engineering and structural performance are required. We particularly welcome candidates with a collaborative research approach, strong industry networks, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. If you are enthusiastic about making a significant impact in both research and teaching, we encourage you to apply.

We are also recruiting for additional Lecturer/Senior Lecturer & Professor positions within the School; which you can search for via our careers site using the job numbers; ACAD108516 and ACAD108465
