Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, Technical Communication and/or Professional Writing, Creative Nonfiction, Public Administration, English, or other related discipline.
- Prior composition teaching experience with an emphasis on first-year students
- Experience teaching to a range of student backgrounds and learning styles
- Organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Professional writing experience
- Online or hybrid experience
- Teaching in-person and online
- Work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community
- Participate in department, university, and community service and governance including service on the department's Composition Committee, as well as assessment and professional development
- Teaching experience in a college setting
- Ability to teach composition courses face-to-face and online
- Appreciation for the variety of student backgrounds and learning styles and a commitment to student retention and success.
