Summary of Job Duties:
The Surgical/Scrub Technologist assembles supplies for surgical procedures, maintains the sterile field, passes surgical instruments, and assists in room preparation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Plus a Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist school/program, OR surgical scrub tech training through the military.
Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of surgical/scrub experience at an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center.
Additional Information:
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning, and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities:
Provides an assessment of the surgical procedure.
Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases.
Prepares the operating room with appropriate equipment, ensuring it is available and ready for use.
Ensures operating rooms are case-ready for the following day's cases.
Ensures medical instruments are cleaned, arranged, and transported to the soiled utility room in accordance with department policy.
Performs administrative duties, including admitting and discharging patients, ensuring front desk logs and phone books are maintained, and managing infant security system alarms.
Assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits.
Performs other duties as assigned.
