Position Summary:
The Strength and Conditioning coach is responsible for all aspects of developing and implementing successful year-round sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in all intercollegiate athletic teams with a focus on enhancing performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery programs. This includes, but is not limited to: instruction of proper techniques, physical performance evaluating and testing, managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of the weight room facility, and adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, NCAA, and applicable conference.Duties:
- Advanced knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques, energy systems, and expenditure for various sports, sports nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and periodization.
- Advanced knowledge of therapeutic modalities, and physical rehabilitation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- An ability to counsel and motivate athletes.
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field and four years relevant experience, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional licensure may be required that is commensurate with the appropriate level. National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification is required.
Master’s degree preferred.
This is a full-time, term-funded, 11-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
