Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works with large and eclectic student populations while guiding them in choices to successfully graduate from UAB, adhering to UAB policy and requirements.
- May participate in some or all orientations, scholarship events, and UAB Days.
- Participation and attendance are required for CAS Academic Advisor (AA II), which will include some nights and weekends.
- Will be required to teach First Year Experience courses as determined by the Director of Academic Advising.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
Preferred:
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Candidates must have the ability to encourage people, problem-solve, possess interpersonal skills, and have three (3) years combination of academic and counseling experience.
- Candidate must be able to work alone as well as with a team.
