Physician Assistant-NEUROSURGERY

Job Description:

Assists with responding promptly to neurosurgical clinic patient and floor patients, direct admissions, scheduling surgeries, billing, updating patient list and assists provider with floor rounds (writing notes, orders, wound care, peer reviews, etc.). Assists in surgical procedures, in and out of the operating room.  Facilitates timely communication with family and patients.  Enters, pre and post-operative orders for floor patients, preoperative history and physicals, and Neurosurgical clinic paperwork in a timely fashion.  Facilitates preparation of clinic patients for surgery.  Facilitates timely communication with family and patients.  Willing to work flexible assigned shifts and be on-call. 

1. Work Experience:

One year of experience in a neurosurgery outpatient clinic is preferred.

Three years of experience in a hospital environment as a physician assistant is preferred.

1. License/Registration/Certification:

            National Commissioned Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required   

            Licensed and approved as a physician assistant in the State of Texas

            Must have DEA Number, DPS Number, and eligible to obtain an NPI Number

            Current CPR certification required

            ACLS or ATLS are required within six months of employment.

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program

1. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
2. Ability to perform complex patient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

9. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
