Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Transports patients safely and efficiently across all age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients
- Operates under the supervision of a Manager or Supervisor
- Delivers patient-related items, including specimens, oxygen tanks, packages, requisitions, supplies, lab samples, and medication orders
- Utilizes necessary tools and equipment such as pagers, locks, and other transport-related devices
- Ensures proper handling and timely delivery of materials to support patient care
- Conducts routine preventive maintenance and safety checks on all transport equipment
- Adheres to hospital protocols and safety standards during all transport activities
What You’ll Bring
Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one (1) year customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English effectively to perform job duties
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of patients and healthcare staff
- Must be physically capable of walking and standing for extended periods
- Able to push, pull, lift, and bend with proper hand-eye coordination as outlined in PM&R Physical Assessment
- Must complete University Hospital’s body mechanics training within three (3) months of hire
- Ability to complete CPR training as required
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing staffing needs and rotating shifts with advance notice
