Position Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, verifying their information in the Epic System, and performing automated appointment scheduling. In addition, this position maintains patients’ medical charts and receives co-payments for a visit. A successful MOA will provide excellent patient and physician customer service.
Key Results Areas (KRAs):
- Check-in process: Effectively checks in patients by: greet, arriving, verifying benefit coverage, verifying and entering referral, verify and update FSC and demographic information, collecting and post co-pay and self-pay balances, generate lab/procedure orders, pharmacy provider, obtaining complete medical history and HIPAA forms.
- Patient scheduling process: Effectively schedules patients from bump list and reminder.
- Medical records process: Accurately creates and maintains charts in paper and electronic formats. Effectively scans and indexes electronic records.
- Charge entry process: Accurately completes charge entry process and can effectively resolve registration and charge entry edits.
- Payment posting: Accurately completes Payment posting process using Epic system.
- Office Administration: Accurately generates no-show and missed appointment letters, and dictation; sorts and distributes mail and faxes; sources translation services
- Patient satisfaction: Meets patient and physician expectations
- Check-out process: Effectively checks out patients by scheduling return appointments, and procedures, collecting and posting co-pay and self-pay balance, code accurately, and complete encounter forms.
- Telephone support: Answers, screens & directs incoming calls and answers basic patient-related questions and/ or problems.
- Billing and HIPAA regulatory compliance: Complies with letter and spirit of Billing and HIPAA regulations.

Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent Required
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical office setting Preferred
- Experience using a medical billing system Preferred
