The School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo – The State University of New York invites applications for an Academic Systems Assistant.
The School of Architecture and Planning, with approximately 50 full-time faculty members and 680 students, is home to the Department of Architecture and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate student programs.
The Academic Systems Assistant will be part of a team of two cross-trained Staff Assistants providing critical academic operations support in areas of admissions, enrollment, program assessment, customer service, and organization of activities that enhance the student and faculty experience.

The Staff Assistant may also be cross trained on the responsibilities of the other Staff Assistant on the team to provide support as needed for the following:

Responsibilities specific to this position will include, but not limited to:
- Work with faculty and departmental leadership to create course schedules with minimal or no conflicts within cohorts.
- Work with internal stakeholders on logistics related to course offerings and room scheduling.
- Compiling documentation for the University’s assessment report and related accreditation reports.
- Support and participate in student recruitment activities.
- Providing attentive customer service to both external and internal parties.
- Coordinating and fulfilling tasks on behalf of faculty in support of their instruction and related objectives.
- Provide support for programs and activities for a variety of school events, including orientation and commencement. Event support may occasionally require availability outside of typical business hours.
- Providing administrative support for leadership in the departments of Architecture, Planning, and Academic Affairs
The Staff Assistant may also be cross trained on the responsibilities of the other Staff Assistant on the team to provide support as needed for the following:
- Graduate admissions application processing.
- Planning and organization of school events, including orientation and school traditions.
- Purchasing and tracking expenses from departmental budgets.
- Supporting school recognition initiatives such as awards ceremonies and other events that celebrate student accomplishments.
