The Massry School is experiencing significant philanthropic momentum. The current Inspire the Next campaign has surpassed its $30 million goal ahead of schedule, strengthening support for scholarships, faculty excellence, student success initiatives, and strategic priorities. Building on this success, the School is well positioned for continued growth in philanthropy and engagement.

The University at Albany seeks an accomplished and enterprising fundraising professional to serve as Senior Director of Development for the Massry School of Business. The senior director will be responsible for engaging high net-worth alumni and friends and designing and executing solicitation strategies to secure gifts of $25,000-$10,000,000 .

The senior director will help provide the vision and leadership for fundraising efforts for the school's highest strategic priorities. This individual will collaborate with campus partners, in particular the dean, and develop coordinated strategies aimed at maximizing the lifetime engagement of a portfolio that includes many of UAlbany's most affluent and important prospects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of high net-worth individuals through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycles; forge relationships with a diverse population of prospects that will realize six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts and advance the Massry School to new levels of distinction.
• Meet with prospects, often in tandem with the president, dean, and faculty members; work proactively to deepen prospects' engagement through substantive campus visits and other strategies.
• Lead and execute advancement strategies for the Massry School, supporting the final phase of the School's $30 million Inspire the Next campaign.
• Collaborate closely with the dean to identify and articulate her/his fundraising priorities.
• Oversee the preparation of proposals, talking points, briefings for president, dean, and faculty members; ensure that all stakeholders are involved in key efforts focused on specific prospects.
• Supervise and manage one direct report, the associate director of development, providing guidance, support and performance feedback to assure goals, programs, activities and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's mission. Lead employee for maximum performance and dedication, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements, offering constructive feedback and developing improvement plans.
• Collaborate with the associate vice president for planned giving to design prospect strategies for complex solicitations and identify appropriate giving vehicles.
• Work with donor relations colleagues to ensure that donors are properly stewarded.
• Collaborate with the dean to manage the dean's advisory board, identifying and recruiting new members, and creating strategies and initiatives to deepen the board's engagement.
• Support donor and alumni engagement events through planning, outreach, and execution.
• Maintain complete and timely records of contacts with prospects.
• Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• At least 5 to 7 years of development experience with a proven ability to engage individuals and secure commitments at the major gift level; the ability to inspire donors to provide significant philanthropic support.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8 to 10 years of development experience with a proven ability to engage individuals and secure commitments at the major gift level.
• Experience in nonprofits or higher education soliciting and closing major gifts.
• Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• Professional supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with fundraising databases (e.g., Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge).
• Experience staffing and managing advisory boards and/or committees.

Working Environment:

• Typical office environment.
• Significant travel is required.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Director of Fund Raising, SL5, $110,000-125,000.

Special Notes: This title is in Appendix C of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead, receive three-year renewable term appointments. For the first four years of employment, the employee gets a term appointment of at least one year and up to three years. If an internal candidate accepts the position and moves to an Appendix C title from a UUP professional title in which they have permanency, the employee begins with a one-year probationary period in the Appendix C title. If the employee successfully completes the one-year probationary period, the employee will be granted a three-year term appointment in the Appendix C title and shall not retain permanent appointment in the former professional title.
