📢 We’re Hiring: Controller - Universal Piping Industries Business Unit
Location: Troy, MI
We’re looking for an experienced Controller to join our team. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the VP of UPI and to the Kaiser Enterprise Controller, responsible for managing financial performance and overseeing all accounting operations for the UPI business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, job costing, WIP schedules, and fixed assets.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple departments.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting staff (AP, AR, Payroll).
- Oversee job cost reporting and project profitability analysis.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and financial procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors as needed.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Industry experience in construction is required.
- Familiarity with mechanical/HVAC or piping industries preferred
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP accounting, and project-based reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a growing, fast-paced, and hands-on environment.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
