Responsibilities
- Assess patient conditions rapidly through comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs monitoring, ensuring timely and accurate triage.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage airway emergencies, ventilator support, and acute pain to stabilize critically ill patients in high-pressure situations.
- Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization, phlebotomy, and wound care to support patient recovery.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists in cardiology, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and behavioral health to develop effective treatment plans.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families during stressful emergency scenarios.
- Maintain proficiency in hospital protocols for trauma centers (Level I & II), ICU care, pediatric emergencies, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and infectious disease management.
Skills
- Extensive experience working in emergency room settings with Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation.
- Strong critical care skills including ventilator management, cardiac catheterization support, and acute care procedures.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory experience for diagnostic evaluation.
- Skilled in infection control practices, sterile processing, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
- Ability to perform complex assessments involving physiology knowledge, trauma medicine, and internal medicine principles.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those requiring hospice & palliative medicine services.
- Excellent communication skills combined with strong case management capabilities for discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
