PAY RANGE: $1,800 - $1,803 / Weekly

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and techniques, with a commitment to delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform essential laboratory tests, handle specimens with precision, and support patient care initiatives within a fast-paced hospital or clinical environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient outcomes through meticulous laboratory work and exceptional service.

Duties

  • Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples using established laboratory techniques.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests following standardized procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Handle specimens with aseptic techniques, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and documentation in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibrating instruments and troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
  • Assist in patient preparation by obtaining vital signs, explaining procedures, and providing compassionate patient service during specimen collection.
  • Document test results accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining data integrity.
  • Adhere to safety standards such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), ensuring a safe environment for staff and patients alike.
  • Support laboratory quality assurance activities by participating in audits, maintaining cleanliness, and following infection control protocols.

Skills

  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures and techniques relevant to clinical diagnostics.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to interpret test orders accurately.
  • Experience with specimen collection methods including venipuncture (blood sampling) and phlebotomy specimen handling.
  • Familiarity with hospital-based workflows, EMR/EHR systems, and data entry processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for specimen transport or equipment setup while maintaining safety standards.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during sample processing.
  • Prior experience working in clinical laboratories within healthcare settings is highly desirable.
