Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse in Emergency Department (RN ED) to provide comprehensive, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, critical environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in emergency nursing, with expertise spanning trauma medicine, acute care, and complex medical procedures. The RN ED will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while maintaining compliance with hospital standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine urgent needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and suturing when necessary, following aseptic techniques.
- Manage airway and ventilator support for critically ill patients, ensuring adherence to emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for trauma care, cardiac catheterization procedures, dialysis treatments, and other specialized interventions.
- Document all patient interactions comprehensively within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide triage services for incoming patients, prioritizing based on severity of condition and ensuring timely interventions.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures such as CT scans or sonography, and ICD coding for accurate record keeping.
- Support patients with complex needs such as those requiring memory care, behavioral health support, or long-term care planning in accordance with NCQA standards.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current state registration; BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Extensive critical care experience within Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency room settings.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma medicine, acute pain management, infectious disease care, and emergency response procedures.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology relevant to emergency nursing.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, venipuncture, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques.
