POSITION SUMMARY
This position works under the direction of the supervising faculty physician(s) to provide medical care for patients with pediatric infectious disease diagnoses in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. The Nurse Practitioner manages a caseload of Pediatric patients through consultation, collaboration, and direct medical care utilizing the acquired knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physiology relevant to pediatric infectious diseases. Recognizing that pediatric infectious disease is a specialty clinical practice, the Department is committed to an onboarding and continuous learning process to allow the right candidate to acquire and sustain the unique clinical acumen through direct learning and collaboration with board-certified physician specialists. The Nurse Practitioner exercises independent judgment in performance delegated assessment and procedures in the clinical setting, but will also have immediate access to clinical support from a board eligible/board certified Pediatric Infectious Disease physician. The Nurse Practitioner participates in the development of guidelines for care and serves as a resource for the relevant pediatric medical and surgical service lines through consultation and education. Participates in the improvement of operational function of the Pediatric Department with the Pediatric team. Establishes effective communication and respectful interprofessional relationships with all disciplines.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Expert knowledge related to advanced pediatric clinical nursing practice.
- Expert clinical skills and problem-solving abilities including understanding and applying nursing principles at the advanced level.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a collegial relationship with other healthcare providers. Recognizes limitations and consults or refers appropriately.
- Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
- Evaluates and orders prescribed treatment plans.
- Orders and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
- Monitors effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
- Offer counseling and education to meet patient and/or patient guardians’ needs.
- Make appropriate referrals.
- Completes written documentation of patient encounters within the electronic medical record system.
· Ensures documentation of patient visit supports coding and billing guidelines for each encounter.
· Understands and follows all Universal Precaution Procedures.
· Understands and follows all HIPAA guidelines and processes to ensure patient confidentiality.
· Completes all billing and medical records documentation within thirty (30) business days of the patient visit or less time if required by an insurance company, other payor of services, or the hospital or institution at which Provider is performing services.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master of Science in Nursing
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification:
o Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN)
o Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN, PNP)
o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. and American Red Cross-Healthcare Provider CPR
o Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification:
o Certified Pediatric Infectious Disease APRN – or needs to be certified within 2 years of hire
Experience: Two to four years’ experience preferred

Salary : $113,000 - $120,000
