ESL Adjunct Instructor in Bridges English (ESL)
The Bridges program offers classes for adults in the Sioux Falls community who want to learn or improve their English language skills. Bridges is seeking a teacher of English as a Foreign/Second/Other language for fall semester classes.
Instructors are hired on a part-time, semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the University's needs. Additionally, based on need, a successful instructor may have the option to continue for a subsequent semester. The instructor position for Bridges is part-time and housed in Academic Affairs. Adult English classes meet twice a week for 2.5 hours per class over the course of the semester. The Fall 2026 semester will begin on August 19th and end on November 24th.
Instructors teaching for Bridges report directly to the Bridges Director.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a TEFL/TESOL certificate or EL endorsement, and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (minimum 3.0 GPA) from an accredited institution, although a master’s degree is preferred. A degree in Foreign Language Study, English, or ESL/ENL/ELL is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of language learner needs and have an appreciation of cultural diversity.
