Responsibilities
Personal
- Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas and departments utilizing proper equipment (wheelchair or cart) appropriate to the patient’s condition and lifting techniques.
- Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies patient arrival to designated individual.
- Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate.
- Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
- For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job-related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
- Patient transporters may transport contrast media to inpatients, ED patients 6000-44
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Understand requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy.
- Support the School of Radiology educational process.
- Maintain current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures, and student progress.
- Communicate with School of Radiology faculty on student-related progress and issues.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three (3) months from date of hire.
- Must complete on the job training.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to understand written, verbal, and other sensory stimuli.
- Must have the ability to analyze written and spoken English.
- Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints.
- Must be able to interpret scientific data in a logical and coherent manner.
