The teacher provides an academic learning environment for patients served within the UnityPoint Health - Meriter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program (CAP). The teacher may administer academic and learning assessments, review Individual Education Plans (IEP), and support/advise the development of additional or modified academic plans for the patients’ return to school.
Additional job duties include integrating the academic and clinical focuses and coordinating with school system. The teacher will also contribute as appropriate to the multidisciplinary processes of the program including intake assessments, treatment plan development and update, and discharge planning and plays a critical role in transitioning the patient back to school with discharge plan and strategies to support success.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Education
- Previous experience with children/adolescents having special learning needs: Learning disabilities, Emotional disabilities, cognitive disabilities.
- Certified as a teacher in the state of Wisconsin.
- Strong personal interaction and communication skills.
- Ability to document in an EHR effectively and succinctly.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Flexible in responding to the changing needs of the organization.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, clinical judgement, and problem solving skills.
- CPI Training within 90 days of hire.
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
- Master's Degree in Education, Special Education.
- Experience working in a special education setting.
