As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Patient Service Representative (PSR) contributes professionally in the provision and management of care to patients and their families and lives the philosophy of UnityPoint Health in collaboration with other care givers. Responsibilities
Registration
- Accurately verifies patients using two unique patient identifiers.
- Obtains patient demographics as well as health insurance coverage and co-payment collections at the time of service.
- Schedules patients according to office guidelines.
- Assists in management of provider schedules to accommodate provider requests and patient needs.
- Assists in care coordination across the health care continuum.
- Attends to office phones while using excellent customer service messaging.
- Collaborates with providers and professional health care team to assure patient needs are addressed in a timely manner.
- Maintains courteous, caring and professional demeanor to all individuals.
- Maintains flexibility by demonstrating an ability and willingness to perform a variety of duties and accept changes or additions to assignments.
- Cooperates in planning, implementing, and supporting decisions.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prefer someone with at least (1) one year of customer service experience
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 3 months from date of hire
