Responsibilities
- Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate prehospital medical care.
- Adapts and adjusts the patient’s care plan according to the patient’s needs in the prehospital setting.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Carries out high quality patient care while following the scope of practice set out by the State of Iowa Public Health Department Bureau of EMS and this ambulance service.
- Must be able to transport a behavioral health patient utilizing an ambulance or secure car.
EMT Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Valid chauffer’s driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Current Iowa certification as an EMT.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
- Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Valid chauffer’s driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Current certification as Iowa Advanced-EMT.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
- Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of EMS training from an approved training course.
- Valid Iowa Chauffeur’s License.
- Current certification at EMT-PM level is required.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
- Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
