Responsibilities
- Manage incoming calls, pages, and messages through the hospital switchboard
- Direct communications to the appropriate departments, providers, and on-call staff
- Prioritize urgent requests and support timely communication during emergencies
- Assist patients, visitors, and team members with questions and general information
- Monitor hospital alarm systems and relay critical information to emergency response teams
- Coordinate interpreter and communication assistance services for patients and visitors
- Maintain accurate contact lists, on-call schedules, and communication records
- Troubleshoot basic telecommunications issues and report system concerns
- Support emergency preparedness, incident command, and disaster response activities as needed
- Contribute ideas that improve communication processes and service efficiency
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Experience as a secretary, receptionist, or customer service in a busy public office is preferred.
