What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Mental Health Professional position at Unity Youth & Family Services?
Licensed Mental Health Therapist Unity Youth & Family Services | Omaha, Nebraska Full-time W-2 employment | In-person and telehealth
You can take your work seriously and still have a personality.
Unity is hiring two experienced, fully licensed therapists for our Omaha clinics: one to work with children and adolescents ages 5–17, and one to work with adults ages 18 and older.
Both positions require at least two years of clinical therapy experience and a minimum of 20 completed client sessions per week for full time staff.
A little about us
At Unity Youth & Family Services, we want clients to feel comfortable enough to say what they have been afraid to say. Sometimes that means crying or sitting quietly. Other times, it means laughing, expressing anger safely, or having a conversation that gets a little messy.
We are the kind of practice where those experiences have room to happen. We serve people across Nebraska who have often felt overlooked or misunderstood, with a commitment to accessible, affirming care for underserved and culturally diverse communities.
We have a sense of humor here. There is sarcasm, plenty of sass, and some colorful language. We also expect sound clinical judgment, clear boundaries, and reliable follow-through.
We appreciate therapists who bring their own interests and personality to the work. Connecting with a teenager over Marvel can matter. So can helping an adult feel understood without rushing to fill every silence. Building that relationship takes skill, and we want someone who knows what to do once the trust is there.
What you will do
- Provide individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy as appropriate for your clients.
- Complete clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Use evidence-based interventions and review treatment progress.
- Coordinate with families, schools, providers, and community resources when appropriate and authorized.
- Advocate for clients and help them access needed services.
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and protect client confidentiality.
- Complete at least 20 client sessions per week.
- Contribute to a team where people can ask questions, give honest feedback, and count on each other.
What you will need
- Full, active Nebraska credentials to practice as an LMHP, LIMHP, or LCSW. These openings are preferred for fully licensed clinicians; provisional applicants may be considered.
- At least two years of clinical therapy experience.
- A master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling.
- Experience working with the age group for your position.
- Strong treatment planning, mental health counseling, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience serving underserved and culturally diverse populations.
- The ability to manage your caseload, schedule, and documentation with appropriate independence.
- The drive to involve yourself in marketing initiatives to build and maintain a full caseload.
We want someone who takes initiative and knows when to ask for support.
Benefits include:
- A 401(k) with company matching.
- Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
- Up to $2,500 annually toward continuing education, licensure, and professional training.
- In-house credentialing, insurance verification, and billing support.
- Your own office, desk, and computer, with room to make the space your own.
- Scheduling flexibility and room to develop your clinical interests.
- In-person and telehealth work.
- Supervision support for counseling and social work licensure, including Iowa licensure when needed.
You will have room to make clinical decisions, backed by administrative support and employee benefits.
