Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our intensive outpatient program. Duties
- Provide peer support through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques to individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use related challenges.
- Offer mentorship and motivational interviewing to empower clients in setting and achieving recovery goals.
- Assist clients in navigating behavioral health services, including addiction counseling and mental health counseling.
- Link clients with community resource providers to strengthen their recovery efforts and social support connections
- Document interactions and progress using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately and confidentially.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on an as needed basis to assist in the development of personalized recovery plans tailored to each individual's needs.
- Educate clients on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and available community resources.
- Support clients in developing life skills that promote independence and stability.
- Maintain professional boundaries while fostering trusting relationships based on empathy and respect.
Qualifications
- Lived experience with behavioral health recovery or addiction recovery is highly valued.
- Background knowledge or training in crisis intervention and crisis management is preferred.
- Strong skills in motivational interviewing, mentoring, and behavioral health support techniques.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Certification or training in addiction counseling or mental health support is a plus but not required.
