Role Overview:
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Buildings & Grounds Caretaker to maintain our facilities and outdoor spaces. This role is essential in ensuring our church remains a clean, safe, and inviting environment for services, events, and community activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness of church buildings, including sanctuary, education building classrooms, offices, and restrooms.
- Maintain the stock of supplies such as cleaning products and hospitality items.
- Be onsite before and after the Sunday service for setup and cleanup.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (light bulbs, fixtures, doors, etc.).
- Care for church grounds: trimming, leaf removal, snow/ice removal on light snow days as needed.
- Set up and take down furniture/equipment for services and events.
- Proactively monitor buildings/grounds for any issues and resolve them directly or report them if more resources are needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in maintenance, custodial work, or landscaping preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions and climb a ladder
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Alignment with the vision, mission and core values of Unity of Gaithersburg.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Flexible schedule while also working on Sundays and events.
- Compensation based on experience.
