Make a difference while keeping our spaces clean and welcoming

We're looking for a reliable and motivated Cleaner II to provide janitorial services and daily worksite oversight at the New York State Education Department in downtown Albany. This position includes supervisory responsibilities and cleaning to ensure contract standards are met at site location.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning duties including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and floor care.
• Push large gondolas.
• Clean and restock restrooms.
• Remove trash and recycling from offices and common areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers.
• Maintain bathrooms with cleaning and re-stocking.
• Provide supervisory duties such as guidance, training, and support to worksite staff.
• Delegate and monitor daily work assignments.
• Act as liaison between the NYSID and the Contracts Team Leader, this may include conflict resolution.
• Encourage an environment of inclusion and belonging.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NYS Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Excellent verbal and written comprehension.
• Knowledge of barriers to employment faced by individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to use office equipment.
• Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist and stretch for long periods of time.
• Ability to work efficiently and with the public.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
