About the Role
UDDCC is seeking a dedicated Foster Care Specialist to support children, foster parents, and foster homes throughout the licensing and placement process. This role includes conducting home studies, assisting with foster parent training, completing monthly home visits, and ensuring compliance with Nebraska DHHS foster care regulations (391 NAC).
The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, can manage documentation, and can confidently guide foster parents through licensing, training, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
Foster Care Licensing & Training
- Assist with foster parent pre-service training, ongoing training, and coaching.
- Guide new foster parents through the licensing process and required documentation.
- Conduct home studies and renewal assessments according to state standards.
- Monitor foster home compliance, safety, and DHHS requirements.
- Support foster parents in understanding trauma-informed care, behavioral plans, and agency expectations.
Case Management & Support
- Conduct required monthly in-person visits with foster parents and foster children.
- Provide crisis support, coaching, and placement stabilization assistance.
- Monitor children’s medical needs, school progress, behaviors, and adjustment to placement.
- Attend MDT meetings, therapy sessions, IEP meetings, and other team meetings as needed.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Prepare monthly reports, visit notes, safety checks, and case documentation.
- Coordinate regularly with DHHS caseworkers, therapists, and service providers.
- Report concerns or incidents immediately to the Program Director.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and compliant case files.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
- Ability to pass background checks, Central Registry, and fingerprinting
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases
Preferred
- 2 years of experience working with children, families, or human services programs(foster care, case management, residential care, schools, therapy programs, etc.)
- Experience conducting home studies or licensing assessments
- Training in trauma-informed care
- Knowledge of 391 NAC foster care regulations
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
