Lead Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist
Location: Gig Harbor
Schedule: M-F 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday 7 a.m. - 12:00 Variable Hours

Position Overview
The Lead Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist plays a critical role in supporting the Phlebotomy Supervisor by overseeing daily operations, ensuring adequate staffing, and maintaining compliance across assigned sites. This position involves performing phlebotomy duties, managing schedules, ordering supplies, and serving as a liaison between Lab Assistants and Supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy procedures professionally, accurately, and with compassion.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and adhere to infection control standards.
- Ensure requisitions are complete with accurate patient, insurance, and diagnostic information.
- Review Medicare requirements and complete necessary forms (ABN, MSP) when applicable.
- Accurately collect specimens and communicate proper test ordering to clients.
- Monitor and maintain supply levels at draw stations.
- Coordinate staffing and adjust schedules to ensure coverage.
- Communicate policy updates and operational changes to team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings and weekly timecard reviews.
- Maintain compliance logs and report performance concerns to the Phlebotomy Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomist with a minimum of 3 years of experience in specimen collection.
- Experience with Epic and/or Epic beaker HRIS
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Medicare documentation and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
