Position: Children’s Museum Attendant
Schedule: Part-time | 12–20 hours per week
Pay: $15 –$18 per hour (based on schedule & experience)
The Village Children’s Museum is hiring Children’s Museum Attendants to support the day-to-day operation of our play-based children’s museum. This role is for someone who enjoys working with families, takes initiative, and wants to be part of a team that creates a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for children.
Museum Attendants are responsible for the operation of the building during their shifts. When you are on duty, you help ensure families are safe, the museum runs smoothly, and everything is ready for play.

- Ability to perform basic cleaning and light physical tasks
RESPONSIBILITIES
Run the Museum During Your Shift
- Open and close the building
- Check in guests and process admissions and memberships
- Operate point-of-sale system and handle the till
- Keep exhibits stocked, organized, and ready for play
Maintain Safety & Compliance
- Keep fire exits, walkways, and play areas clear
- Identify and remove hazards immediately
- Enforce museum safety rules and supervision expectations
- Respond to spills, messes, or unsafe situations
- Ensure the building is safe and in compliance during your shift
Support Families
- Greet guests and create a welcoming environment
- Answer questions and help families navigate the museum
- Handle minor concerns and know when to escalate issues
Support Events & Programs
- Assist with birthday parties, school groups, and special programs
- Help set up, reset, and clean spaces
- Support activity flow and guest needs during events
Preparation & Shift Ownership
- Ensure supplies, exhibits, and rooms are ready for your shift
- Help prepare for upcoming activities, parties, or programs
- Post signs, assist with simple flyers or reminders, and keep guests informed
Work as a Team
- Coordinate with other staff, interns, and work-study students
- Take responsibility for what happens during your shift
- Communicate issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the Director
Scheduling & Availability
We are currently hiring for:
- Morning Attendants (weekday mornings rotating weekends)
- Evening Attendants (weekday evenings rotating weekends)
Attendants work a consistent core schedule, with additional hours available for birthday parties, field trips, and special events that may be booked on short notice.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
