Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Resource Development to lead our fundraising, relationship management, and outreach efforts. Under the direction of the President & CEO, this role builds strong relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, volunteers, and foundations to ensure sustainable financial support for United Way’s mission and community impact.
This is a highly relationship-driven leadership role that requires strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple fundraising priorities while maintaining a strong presence in the community. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and CRM software, with a strong background in grant proposal writing, public relations, and stakeholder relationship management. Key Responsibilities
Workplace Campaign Leadership (approximately 70%)
- Manage relationships and fundraising data for more than 200 corporate and organizational partners.
- Represent United Way through workplace presentations and community speaking engagements.
- Recruit, train, and support workplace campaign volunteers.
- Recruit and train Campaign Cabinet members to advocate on United Way’s behalf.
- Engage corporate decision-makers to secure, grow, and sustain campaign participation and support.
Individual Giving (approximately 10%)
- Cultivate and secure new individual donors outside of workplace campaigns.
- Retain and steward existing donors through meaningful engagement.
- Re-engage and “win back” lapsed donors using strategic outreach.
Special Project Fundraising (approximately 10%)
- Serve as lead fundraiser for strategic projects identified as priorities for the organization and community.
- Identify, research, and cultivate prospective funders for special initiatives.
Foundation Relations (approximately 5%)
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national foundations.
- Secure funding through grant writing and targeted foundation outreach
New Revenue Development (approximately 5%)
- Research and identify emerging funding opportunities.
- Pursue new revenue streams with approval from the President & CEO.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of two years of successful fundraising, sales, or donor/customer relationship management experience.
- Minimum of two years managing fundraising or sales accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-based environment.
