BASIC FUNCTION

Principal Accountabilities
- Performs DEXA tests in accordance with appropriate protocols, safety standards, and policy.
- Performs post-scan quality assurance reviews and releases films for interpretation.
- Performs necessary routine equipment maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Calibrates scanner daily, quality control, archives scans completed on disc, and maintains daily logs. Maintains complete logs and records of maintenance and quality control.
- Answers patient questions and concerns with care and compassion. Demonstrates excellent customer service.
- Completes all necessary paperwork.
- Maintains ability to scan full body, as well as hip and spine.
- Accurately analyzes all scans.
- Demonstrates familiarity in use of equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Assumes responsibility for checking x-ray rooms for supplies, stocks x-ray rooms, and works with the individual responsible for purchasing in the ordering of supplies.
- Performs DEXA Technologist duties, as necessary. Performs DEXA's following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Adheres to the organization's radiation safety program.
- Assists in other departments, as needed or requested.
- Maintains effective communication with supervisor and management on issues affecting the department.
- Maintains a basic working knowledge of computer systems.
- Predictable attendance and promptness in reporting to work and in returning from breaks and meal periods is expected and required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
