We are currently seeking experienced Certified Surgical Technician, Full-Time - NO NIGHTS, NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS, NO CALL, Day One Insurance Coverage - We offer a $5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS for 40 hours per week - full time!!

To be considered, you must have the following:

JOB DUTIES:

• Participates as a team member in support of the total peri-operative process.
• Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital. Observes safety protocols when positioning the anesthetized patient, during patient transport, use of tourniquet and electrical equipment in the OR setting. Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure.
• Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care. Considers age-specific patient requirements when responding to emergency situations.
• Maintains and promotes professional competence through continuing education and other learning experiences. Attends and actively participates in meetings, committees, in-services, seminars, workshops, conferences, quality management activities according to job responsibilities and Facility requirements.
• Performs scrubbing, gowning, and gloving of the surgical team.
• Prepares patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Also transports, positions patients on table, and covers them with sterile surgical "drapes."
• Scrubs hands and arms, puts on sterile operating room attire to be able to work within the sterile field established around the patient and to handle the sterilized instruments, equipment, and supplies used in the procedure.
• Before an operation, helps set up the operating room and organizes sterile table with surgical instruments and equipment, sterile linens, and sterile solutions. Drapes the surgical field, observes breaks in technique, and maintains sterility.
• Performs operating room technician functions following prescribed operating and/or procedure room procedures and principles of aseptic technique.
• Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for procedures.
• Arranges instruments according to routine for the scheduled procedure; confirms that instruments work properly and according to physician preference.
• Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays.
• Checks, adjusts, and operates equipment such as lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment.
• Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and responds according to Facility policy.
• Passes equipment and supplies as requested and required for the particular case and physician as directed. Operates and trouble shoots equipment in the OR.
• Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
• Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures.
• Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
• Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
• Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
• Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties.
• Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
• Is accountable for accurate sponge, needle, instrument, and blade count per policy.
• Returns items to the proper location for storage. Handles delicate items appropriately. Assures instruments and equipment are in good working order.
• Assists with storing and stocking supplies as directed.
• Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards.
• Adequately cleans OR rooms between procedures.
• Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and applies dressings as directed.
• Performs inventory duties to assure adequate and appropriate levels of supplies.
• Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
• Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures.
