Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and assembles appetizing meals using efficient meal preparation techniques to meet scheduled dining times.
- Manages fast-paced tray line operations to ensure accurate and timely food delivery for every resident.
- Applies knowledge of modified diets to serve meals that align with specific nutritional and medical requirements.
- Maintains spotless kitchen and dining areas through rigorous sanitation practices and safe kitchen equipment handling.
- Upholds strict food safety and HACCP standards to prevent contamination and protect public health.
- Delivers exceptional customer service by greeting residents warmly, listening to their feedback, and addressing dietary preferences with care.
- Supports overall dietary management goals by tracking inventory, reporting shortages, and communicating resident needs to the nursing and kitchen teams.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completes a certified food handler training course or obtains certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience
- Brings at least six months of experience in food service, healthcare dining, or a related hospitality environment.
- Demonstrates practical knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment handling and basic food preparation.
Knowledge/Skills
- Possesses a strong understanding of food safety, HACCP guidelines, and kitchen sanitation protocols.
- Communicates effectively with residents, family members, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Adapts quickly to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with modified diets in a senior living or healthcare setting.
- Certificates in professional culinary arts, nutrition support, or advanced dietary management.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Stands and walks for extended periods during meal service shifts.
- Lifts and carries food supplies, trays, and kitchen equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Bends, reaches, and stoops frequently while cleaning and organizing work areas.
- Works in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to varying temperature changes from ovens and refrigerators.
