About This Job:

As a Certified Surgical Tech, you play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our surgical procedures. You directly assist surgeons and nurses, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring all necessary equipment is readily available. Your expertise contributes to positive patient outcomes and the smooth operation of our surgical unit. 

This position pays a $5000 bonus for Full-time and $2500 for Part-time

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies based on the surgical procedure.
• Ensures sterile technique is maintained throughout all procedures, adhering to strict aseptic protocols.
• Assists surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile items as needed.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and responds promptly to requests, ensuring a seamless surgical flow.
• Monitors patient safety by adhering to established protocols and immediately reporting any concerns.
• Participates in wound care by applying dressings and ensuring proper post-operative care instructions are followed.
• Manages surgical instrumentation, ensuring proper cleaning, sterilization, and inventory.
• Documents all relevant information in electronic health records (EHR) accurately and efficiently.
• Maintains accurate inventory management of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Applies knowledge of medical terminology to accurately communicate with the surgical team.
• Follows operating room procedures and protocols to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Surgical Technician in an operating room setting preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Proficient in surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of sterile and aseptic techniques.
• Knowledgeable in operating room procedures and protocols.
• Strong understanding of patient safety principles.
• Skilled in surgical assisting techniques.
• Competent in wound care procedures.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Experience with inventory management systems.
• Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Experience with a variety of surgical specialties.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:

• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and patients.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
