Job Description
The Caster Operator ensures policies, procedures, and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives at the Caster on their respective crew assignments.
**Digital assessment test is required to be completed within 14 days of submitting application.
Responsibilities:
Capable of running the Caster in a safe manner.
Monitor mold level, mold flux level in the mold. Monitor steel levels in tundish, take tundish samples, hooking up ladies, keeping caster floor stocked with materials and supplies.
Communicate with caster tech and pulpit operator and be prepared for turnarounds.
Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out throughout job areas and grounds.
Coordinate with upstream/downstream operations with daily activity.
Support other departments as needed to strengthen BRS profitability and continual improvement efforts.
Assist shift supervisor/caster tech in achieving operational goals and ensuring crew safety.
Qualifications:
Quality and detail oriented
Must maintain a positive attitude and be a team player
Strong technical and analytical/ problem solving skills/mechanically inclined
Good insight into team dynamics
Good verbal communication skills; computer literate
Ability to routinely lift and move objects during shift
High School diploma or equivalent; college degree is a plus
Previous related experience preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position works on the Caster production areas which are routinely a hot environment with typical hours are rotating 12 hour shifts working weekend and holidays. As well as scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
