The primary purpose of this position is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specilaized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

Qualifications:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Inventory Management Series 2010

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least three (3) years of progressively responsible general experience at the next lower broadband NJ-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. General experience is described as requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system; correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports; and various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produces a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the NJ-01 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NJ-02 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  1. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions; and supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
  2. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system; correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports; and various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  3. Skill in typing, a qualified typist is required.
  4. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems; and to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements.
  5. Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection practices, procedures, and principles related to a wide range of materials, technical components, parts and commodities, ability to analyze problems and to develop timely and economical solutions to problems encountered.
  6. Knowledge of the identification, storage, handling, and reporting procedures of hazardous material and knowledge of policies , methods and procedures for material identification, type classification serviceability, and approval for use ; knowledge of procedures, supply catalogs , technical manuals , and equipment drawings required for product and equipment verification and knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures with ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Able to research supply guidance, inventory control and resolve problems.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns.
  2. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling.
  3. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion.
  4. Prepares recurring and special reports. Compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats.
  5. Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials.
  6. Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective storage and receiving operation. Independently performs a complete range of receiving assignments.
