JOB OVERVIEW
The Target Hiring Salary for this position is: $60,000
Join the Sergeant at Arms (SAA) as a Parking Operations Specialist. In this position, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the security and compliance of vehicles parking within the SAA’s jurisdiction. From verifying authorizations to providing exceptional customer service and performing vehicle assistance tasks, you'll be an essential asset in maintaining safety and convenience for all Senate permit holders. The incumbent is customer-focused and ready to contribute their talents to the SAA’s Parking Operations’ team.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Job Duties
Verifies authorization of drivers and vehicles in parking areas under SAA jurisdiction; routinely checks parked vehicles to ensure security compliance with parking rules. Provides customer service to Congressional permit holders. Monitors and patrols parking areas to ensure vehicle security; Reports unusual/suspicious vehicles, persons, or activities to a Lead, Supervisor, and/or Capitol Police. Performs requested vehicle jump starts; AAA trained to unlock vehicles when keys are locked inside. Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties/ Responsibilities
- Regularly fills in for Administrative Specialists and Permit Issuance Specialist; performs duties including but not limited to: issuing permits, answering phones, sending and receiving emails, processing TranSAAct requests, data entry, issuing Senate plates and placards.
- Fills in for Enforcement Specialists as needed.
- Schedule adjustment may be required.
- As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role.
- Ability to obtain a Segway operator certification.
- Ability to safely drive vehicles in close confinement with skill and visual acuity.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Congressional staff regarding parking of vehicles.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn basic computer skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least two years licensed driving experience; good driving record.
- Preferred ability to proficiently drive a manual transmission vehicle.
- Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
- Ability to operate moderate to large machinery.

To be employed by a Senate employing office in a paid position in the continental United States an individual must:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C.
- 1324b(a)(3)(B);
- Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C.
- 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C.
- 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
- Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).
