CDL A Boom Truck Operator

Overview

We are seeking an optimistic and highly motivated Driver!

The ideal candidate will have experience in Operating remote/ Manual booms on trucks. The ideal candidate must have a valid CDL A with air break endorsements. Our fleet is made up of automatic Kenworth T880 with rear mount boom crane. The candidate must be able to tow both a fifth wheel mount and pintle hitch trailer. We are looking for an individual that is willing to pull a 30 ft trailer in the metro area full time. This role involves transporting freight safely and efficiently in high risk areas, as our company supplies safety products for underground construction. The Truck Driver will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of our products while effectively communicating with our dispatch via a company handheld. The Ideal candidate will be proficient in operating a cell phone/ hand held for completing all inspections on the truck, crane, and equipment being picked up at jobsites. The start time for this position may vary. We are currently looking for someone interested in working hours from 9am-6pm. Again these hours may vary.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tractor-trailer to transport both regular and wide loads within the metro/ surrounding areas.
• Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport via dot/company standards.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle within the handheld.
• Conducting daily inspections on the boom/crane within the handheld.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes, and cargo deliveries as required by law via the handheld.
• Navigate routes effectively, utilizing GPS systems and maps to optimize delivery times.
• Communicate with dispatchers regarding any issues or delays encountered during transit.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations while on the road.
• Document equipment being pick up/delivered with a company handheld.
• Maintain a clean/organized truck at all times.
• Must be willing to help put together orders/maintain facility when there's a need for more help.
• Must be able to operate a skid loader.
• Must be able to operate a diesel forklift.

Skills

• Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL A (Commercial Driver's License).
• Familiarity with different types of boom/crane trucks. Also must be able to operate a day cab tractor trailer. ( 48' step deck trailer)
• Strong route driving skills with the ability to navigate efficiently across various terrains.
• Ability to load and unload freight safely and effectively using appropriate equipment.
• Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with dispatchers and clients.
• Attention to detail for maintaining accurate logs and ensuring safety compliance.

Pay: From $28.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 47.0 per week
